While keeping its unique charm, The Alexandria has undergone a $14 million transformation from a historic Los Angeles hotel to an affordable urban housing community. All of the rooms have been converted into Micro-Loft® residences featuring kitchenettes, new light fixtures, ceiling fans, and floor and window coverings. Every Micro-Loft® has its own bathroom and separate closet. Utilities are paid for by the landlord. Parking is available for an additional cost.

Welcome Additions

The Alexandria has become the new home of Company of Angels, the oldest repertory theater in Los Angeles. Company of Angels provides a space for actors and other theater artists to work at their craft free of commercial constraints. The original company, incorporated by legendary entertainment attorney Bertram Fields, included actors such as Richard Chamberlain, Leonard Nimoy and Vic Morrow.

Ilan Hall, best known as the winner of the second season of the Bravo television network's reality series Top Chef, has opened his new restaurant,“The Gorbals,” in the lobby of The Alexandria.

Also the owners of Bar 107 have opened their new bar "The Down & Out" in the old Charlie O's space on the corner of Fifth and Spring.

These exciting additions promise to offer something fresh and different to enhance the rapidly developing Downtown social scene.

The Alexandria is located in the heart of historic Downtown Los Angeles. This vibrant urban area is experiencing a renaissance with numerous office buildings being converted to luxury lofts, and a plethora of new art galleries, eclectic restaurants, hip bars and clubs springing up.

Many theaters in the area have been renovated, including the Orpheum Theater, which plays host to American Idol. The business and new financial district is within walking distance, and only three blocks away is the Pershing Square metro station.
